Yesterday I was appointed to the Board of Directors for DirectPointe, a managed service provider based in Utah. I've been talking to Mike Proper, the CEO off and on for a few years about his business and have always been fascinated by it. They have made great progress so far, and if I know Mike, they're going to be one to watch. I'm excited for the opportunity to be part of it.
DirectPointe is definitely a "longtail" kind of business since they service the network, server, and desktop needs of businesses with less than 150 people per site. They're the answer to how a small business gets an IT shop, at least the infrastructure side. I've always been curious if there's a way to marry CIO-like services to the infrastructure services they provide and give small businesses a complete package.
