Firefox Growing Pains
Less than a week after being told to update to 1.0.4 to patcha security hole in Firefox, the Mozilla Foundation released 1.0.5 to fix a bunch of security problems caused by 1.0.4. I hate upgrading Firefox because I always have to reinstall the Spell Checker extension because extensions are stored in the application directoy (at least on OS X). Ugh!

Try the new Google toolbar for Firefox. When I update Firefox I don't have to reinstall it and it comes with a spell checker.

ZDNet has an interview with Asa Dotzler of the Mozilla Foundation, in which he mentions (on page 4) that Firefox 1.1 will have a "world class update system" to make installing patches and updates much easier. http://insight.zdnet.co.uk/software/0,39020463,39209577,00.htm

Addendum: the Mozilla Foundation has cancelled the upcoming release of Firefox 1.1 and will wait until 1.5 to come out in a few months.
