Just a polite euphemism for identity theft when it is performed by the rich and powerful. To paraphrase Shakespeare, "Crime does not prosper, for if it does prosper, none dare call it crime".

And "identity theft" is just a euphemism for "lying" when it is referred to in popular media. Did Shakespeare ever talk about how the media invents new names for things to justify hyping them, but the new names lead people to think we need 'radically new' approaches to solving them? If he did, that's the quote I want to paraphrase here.
