Picotux
This picotux server is pretty cool. It’s no bigger than an RJ45 jack. With power over Ethernet, you could deploy these anywhere you can run Cat 5 cable. I’m not sure why I love things like this, but I do.

interesting though the website states no practical purpose/use for devices like this - any clue?

Well, one thing I thought of is giving my Garmin GPS a network connection (it has a serial port that could connect to the serial port on the Picotux). In short, anything with a serial connection could be given a network address.

Lights and Display contest comes immediately to mind... With power-over-ethernet you could put temperature sensors anywhere you can run an RJ45 cable. There are plenty other ways to do this, but putting a tiny linux box on the end of a cable is way cool!

this looks cool and if you've heard the joke about installing linux on a toaster well... that would be quite interesting though still a little bit out of my price range as it cost around $400 USD with shipping to america.... oh well :( i'll just try to make my anorexic piggy bank fat
