Senate Radio
The Utah Senate has a podcast called Senate Radio, a podcast featuring Utah Senators talking about their bills and ideas. Obviously, the interviewer is a friendly, but there’s still some good value here. I like that it’s a real podcast—you can subscribe with iTunes or whatever podcatcher you use and have it show up on your iPod if that’s what you want. Otherwise, you just go to the site and listen there.
I’d like a list of the most recent shows to show up on the page (you can click on “Posts” on the embedded player and get that information). The production values could also be upgraded a little. Just getting into a room with less echo would help.
Still, this is a great example of politicians disintermediating the media by speaking directly to voters.

Thanks for the mention Phil. Let the radio stations and the rock star bloggers (like Inside Utah and Under the Dome) provide the ramped-up productions - we decided to go with inexpensive, fun and authentic.
Dan Eastman has a stellar intern (Jenny from BYU) who is assigned to track down senators and capture pieces of audio history on tape. Or whatever passes for tape nowadays...
I'll work on that echo.

I think it's good that they're laying off on the production – perhaps it helps the politicians to be a little more like themselves, and we can actually get to hear what they actually think and not what they think they should think.
A lot more of politicians should make use of this media – as well as social media, and getting involved with social media groups and communities that are into politics. If a politician got more involved with Blogging and actually replying to blogs, we might start seeing a whole new move happening in this arena (and, hopefully, a lot more transparency and leadership, with conviction.)

Internet is now one stop place for some politicians. It used to be that things involving politics are done in a traditional way – paper, TV, radio, etc. I just hope that these folks won’t abuse the flexibility and the wide scope of the world wide web.
