SSHFS Rocks
Can I just say, one more time for the record, that sshfs rocks. Mounting SSH-accessible file systems and then just using them like any other file system on your machine is ever-so convenient.

Be advised that if you are using Parallels 3.0, it installs its own version of FUSE. If you install MacFUSE v0.4.0 or later when you install sshfs, you may kill some of Parallels' drive sharing features. Parallels is aware of the problem and plans to address it in a future update, but according to their forums, you will need to be patient. So install with caution.

I've been using a similar utility for Windows called SFTPDrive and agree that this is very cool.

I have never seen sshfs so I installed it on my mac with macports and tried a test at work. I did a find . -name \*.java on the root of my linux box from my mac and found that sshfs is just as fast as samba. In 49 min over sshfs it found 69,040 files and with samba in 41 min it found 66,821. So about the same. It was not a scientific test but I was impressed.
