Understanding OpenID

Here’s a screencast that Dan Lullich sent me showing how OpenID works using a whiteboard cartoon. Very clever!

Dan was also my guest on the Technometria podcast this week. We talked about reputation—go figure.

nice, hook me up dad

Nice. I've been looking for a succinct explanation of OpenID for some time now. Thanks for posting this. After I watched the video I ran over to myvidoop.com and got me my first new shiny OpenID. It's a nice service, but the ability to store passwords and retrieve them via Firefox extension is still a little clunky. I prefer 1Password.

Oh, and for some reason, Plaxo's OpenID authentication doesn't seem to work with myvidoop.com. Darn, that's the only site I use that has the option to authenticate with OpenID. I look forward to more adoption.

@mike
We've talked to our buddies at Plaxo and pinned down the issue, they're working on fixing it soon. :)

We're always updating the password management feature of myvidoop.com. In fact, our next release will have an interface revamp, so stay tuned!
