Cut the Vision in Half and Ship It
How many of us can relate to this?
Moral: If you find yourself talking more than walking, shut up, cut the vision in half, and launch it. You can always fill in the gaps later. In fact, you’ll know more about what gaps need to be filled after you’ve launched “half a feature” than if you tried to fill them in before launching anything. From Simple means launching something - Signal vs. Noise (by 37signals)

This is one of the things that makes open source rule. The "shift early and ship often" approach is difficult for proprietary vendors because of all of the marketing that needs to accompany new releases. In open source it's OK to have version .2, for example, and then the product most markets itself.
