Dave Winer's been experimenting with keywords in his river of news idea. Doc thinks its the future of newspapers. I agree that a river is a better way to get the news than the old news cycle. It's interesting to compare Dave's NY Times keywords with Google trends, the most searched on keywords for the last 24 hours. Almost nothing in common--not that you'd necessarily expect there would be. People looking for the kind of information you get from the Times make up only a small portion of Google users, I'd expect. A friend emailed me a link to Michael Yon's Online Magazine, a singularly unimaginative name that belies the real reporting that's contained in his dispatches and photos from the front lines in Iraq. He sees things many journalists seem to miss because he sticks around after things have gone boom and the TV crews have packed up and moved on to the next flash point.

Salt Lake Tribune News Quiz

I scored 105 or 125 on the Tribune News Trivia Quiz. I took the Salt Lake Tribune's News Trivia Quiz and scored 105 out 125. That qualifies me as an official news junkie. I missed questions about entertainment--the one thing that doesn't interest me much. Try it and see how you do. I'm surprised they don't have ads on the quiz--lot's of page views. The quiz has a bug in the HTML form presenting the questions. The top radio button doesn't have the same name as the bottom two, so it's possible to select more than one answer. Of course,
